Chaat

I had some good chat at a surprising venue... Lulu at Karama. They have started a new counter to make some chaat and we picked up some just yesterday. I didnt expect much taste. We had one taste of the Dahi Batata Puri pronouncing it as real good stuff. We paid only Dhs 4.50 per plate and he gave us nearly 12 puris in one container. Value for money at this place. One cannot eat inside as u have to pay at the cash counter and take it outside. Well worth!!

I havent heard about Global Village and its bargains much. So i might try going myself. Will keep u all posted. Till then... tchus (as in German..last time i spelt it wrongly).

Winter is warming up with sales

Book lovers, we have a sale for u .... Warehouse sale at Motivate Publishing frm 18th to 20th Dec... perfect timing for those xmas gifts for kids who started to read during Dubai Cares, so that they'll continue this beautiful habit. In case u go, lemme know what treasure u found there.
Definitely hope that we hv another before new yr to get that gr8 outfit for The Party. There is one in Difc frm 2day but i cant say hw good thats gonna be. But if u r gng thru the airport, we have the Duty free 25% off on 2oth dec to celebrate their anniv which is a value for deal!
I was reading about Brendan Fraser 2day in the tabloids and he is one guy with such a comic expression. I wud luv to see him do a P G Woodhouse film as Bertie Wooster! On my flight back to Dxb, i was watching him in Journey to the Centre of the Earth. Had fun.
Dxb is getting chillier in the mornings for our tiny tots who r still catching their school buses & hv to wait in the breezy, cold & dark corners. In such weather, we were ousted frm the lobby of the bldg we moms + kids were standing in as we rnt the residents of that place by a really pushy 'natur'??????? Had an argument with him unsuccessfully as i cant hold my tongue.......

I have lost a dear person today to death. When I talked to him, he said to come and see him and I said - next time. It will never be. Long time ago, he gave me a collection of his books. Now he leaves me with collection of memories...................

Cheers to friendship

All last week was a tense time for me & my sis as our mom was sick with viral fever. We kept calling her up morning & night to check on her. As she stays alone, we knew we had to rely on relatives but more on her friends. Her friend has turned to be a true saviour as she was constantly visiting with food and reassurance. Mom was really depressed as she probably thought it was something serious and she would not be as before. Well, she got the proper diagnosis and now on her way to recovery. Most of us expats have gone thru this scene before or heard a close friend describe one. Do we realise the importance of friendship? Everyone runs after friends, but rarely is one. .
I have many friends but only a few true gems. To recognise and to nuture such a friend is a pleasure and a responsibility. How many of us really understand this?

Subodh Padhye... Artist of Spiritual Paintings

Back from Mumbai in Dxb to find that winter is descending here fast. In comparision, Pune and M'bai were pretty warm. Bangalore, as usual, was having a perfect weather when we were passing thru' !

2day i have added the link to Subodh Padhye's paintings. Do have a look as he has done it all with a mouse when we have so much probs with a brush/pencil on paper. Very admirable! & if u like u can order his paintings printed and framed. His paintings are designed to bring in good luck and blessings which everyone needs in these difficult times.

I am so proud to belong to a place that is so unique ... Mumbai. This feeling is endorsed by all from this island, I believe. Fight back, Mumbaites and dont let the politicians get away. Why can't they get some smart spokeperson and take a oath of silence instead of constantly putting their foot in the mouth!!! Others dont know whom to visit or know whom to take along!!??!! But just look at the ordinary mumbaites ... Salute them all.
